Holistic Health Coach and Writer
Lucie is a Holistic Health Coach and Writer who specialises in helping time poor clients lead a more balanced and healthy lifestyle.
Coming from a leading role in the advertising industry, Lucie has experienced first-hand the difficulties of balancing work and daily life with healthy living. Having learnt from experience, she now focuses on helping busy people take back control of all aspects of their health. Her approach not only focuses on nutrition, but also how your behaviours, habits and lifestyle affect your health and wellness. Lucie regularly works with large corporations assisting their employees in implementing healthier lifestyle habits, as well as helping a wider audience through her articles on sites such as InStyle, Grazia and The Huffington Post.
As an integral member of the Pure Balance Retreats team, Lucie will work with guests to establish their personal barriers preventing them from leading the life they desire and then establish an action plan on how they can begin to conquer these barriers to reach their health goals.
Nutritional Therapist and Yoga Teacher
Kathryn is one of our resident Nutritional Therapist and Yoga Teachers. She believes optimal health can be achieved by making diet and lifestyle choices that are tailored to your body's individual needs.
Having graduated from the Institute of Optimum Nutrition, she is a member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT) and is registered with the Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). Intertwining her experience as a Yoga Teacher, her focus is on the mind-body connection and she specialises in treating biochemical imbalances associated with stress, weight management, digestive health and fatigue. As an accredited BodhiGen Partner, she offers genetic testing alongside functional tests, to further tailor your programme and make personalised and effective recommendations.
Kathryn is a qualified Ashtanga Vinyasa teacher with a style that reflects her preference for an energetic, powerful flow that works your core and creates a strong, lean and toned physique. During the physical practice emphasis is continuously placed on linking breath with movement. This enables you to take your awareness inwardly, helping to develop a calm, clear mind, whilst leaving the body feeling re-energised and refreshed.
Alexander Technique Practitioner
Jo is a practitioner of The Alexander Technique; a method of consciously regaining the poise we enjoyed as young children. As we go through our lives we generate habits of holding and using our bodies, which can be more or less harmful. The technique is widely used by actors and performers to generate presence and enable skilled use of the body when under pressure.
Jo’s interest in mind-body work was manifested from his own experience of chronic pain. Having suffered for several years with neck and lower back pain it had reached a point where it was severely affecting his quality of life. Not wanting to have the surgery that was being recommended, having always seen it as a very last resort, Jo decided he would have to take responsibility and try and find a solution for himself. The search for a positive way forward took him through most of the different available treatments culminating in an Alexander Technique lesson.
After relatively few lessons Jo’s surgeon signed him off, proclaiming he no longer required the spinal surgery. “I was amazed at how this apparently gentle approach had such a profound effect on my structure”. Convinced of the efficacy of this work, Jo decided to train in the Alexander Technique and is now sharing his knowledge and helping others by teaching them in a similar way.
Rosie is a fully qualified Nutritional Therapist. In 2014, she developed a health condition called Adrenal Fatigue and has been on a long journey of recovery ever since. Now, 90% recovered, Rosie specialises in fatigue and helping both men and women of all ages across the country regain their energy just by making simple and effective changes to their diet and lifestyle.
At Pure Balance Retreats, as our resident specialist, Rosie will be providing each guest with an exclusive one-to-one consultation. This one hour session is an initial screening to identify root causes and develop a specific meal and supplement plan targeted towards your goals. The plan will be written in a way that you can implement after the retreat and Rosie will also be working with our in-house chef. Together they will be creating a mouthwatering menu, based on raw food and local organic produce. She’ll also be offering talks on topics to help you further your health journey.
Jane, our chef extraordinaire, has a diverse range of experiences in the culinary world. Running her own business in Mallorca, providing healthy, fresh food for those working on yachts, sourcing local, seasonal produce and cooking it with great respect and care. You can really taste the love that goes into a beautiful plate of food, no matter how simple it may be.
Jane brings her experience of working for high profile and exacting clients, cooking in private villas and on board superyachts, to showcase a wide skill set of global cuisines. The culinary world is ever evolving with new, exciting technologies and cooking methods but ultimately Jane believes that food should stay as close to its roots as possible. Jane will be focusing on clean, fresh flavors during the Pure Balance Retreats using seasonal produce so you feel your best in body and in mind.
David Nassim is a renowned practitioner of Chinese medicine and has been since1999. He is trained in the traditional expressions of East Asian medicine - Shiatsu massage, acupuncture, moxibustion and herbs - including a three year postgraduate apprenticeship in Tokyo, Japan. David now chooses Qi Gong healing-bodywork and individualised nutritional and body movement programs specifically tailored to a client’s constitution and diagnosis. David offers advice to people dealing with any and all health issues, incorporating physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual aspects of their wellbeing. He works with the understanding that all dis-ease is energy that has become blocked or depleted, and his fundamental approach is that of empowering the individual to understand their own system and learn how to heal themselves. He is the author of several books including Medical Oneness and The Nature of Classical Chinese Medicine.
For over 12 years, Catherine has run a successful Hypnotherapy clinic in Lymington and on Harley Street, London, specialising in stress & anxiety management and PTSD as well as treating a number of other conditions. She also teaches relaxation techniques as well as goal setting, focus and past life regression.
Having trained with the London School of Clinical Hypnosis, where she went on to work as a Junior Lecturer, Catherine is a registered member of the BSCH (The British Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists) which is a society only accepting members that are properly trained and abide by a strict ethical code of practice.
Reflexology, Massage, Psychotherapy, Sound Healing
Scania's work life has been eclectic; she started her career in Los Angeles with Entertainment Lawyers whilst living in Hollywood. Scania moved back to the UK and became head of PR at the award winning outdoor sports brand Howies. After cutting her teeth for 5 years in the creative world she then upped sticks and changed tack to follow a new vocation in life coaching, nutrition and the ancient arts of reflexology, massage, Sound Healing and Psychotherapy. This has ignited an endless passion, which becomes ever more focused with each client she meets. Her love for the Gong, and its healing journey in her own life, has brought forth her first album “Echoes from the Library”.
Scania’s philosophy in life is that everyone has a right to be able to get in touch with themselves. Through amazing people, gorgeous children and the beautiful Dorset life, Scania believes with this has led her to create “the life you love.” Her sole aim is to inspire, support and bring others into a life they will love too.
Susie has been dancing since the age of seven. Her training started in ballet, jazz and musical theatre. With distinctions in all RAD and ISTD exams she then went on to further her training at the renowned London Studio Centre. Since graduating from college, Susie has danced in theatre shows across the world including NCL and Costa Cruise lines and has even worked with Michael Jacksons’ choreographer. At Pure Balance Retreats, Susie will be hosting exclusive dance classes, which will encompass a mixture of Jazz, Ceroc and Hip Hop. Each class will last 45 minutes and is a chance to enjoy the movements, have fun, and celebrate your body.
